Inzaghi’s attacking doubts ahead of Inter’s UCL tie vs. Liverpool

Simone Inzaghi is considering tinkering with his attack for Inter’s decisive Champions League Round of 16 clash against Liverpool.

The Nerazzurri come into tomorrow’s match at Anfield 2-0 down on aggregate after disappointing at home last month. The pressure is on Inzaghi’s side now to perform well in the North West of England, a tall task as the squad also look to compete for the Scudetto and the Coppa Italia.

As reported by Sky Sports Italia, Inzaghi is thinking about starting Alexis Sanchez alongside Lautaro Martinez against Liverpool tomorrow, hoping that the South American pair would give some unpredictability to Inter’s attack.

These would leave former Manchester City man Edin Dzeko, who has failed to win at Anfield nine previous times, on the bench. The Bosnian veteran is the club’s top scorer across all competitions this season, netting 16 goals in 37 appearances. Behind him is Lautaro, who has scored 15 goals in 36 games.

Sanchez, in comparison, has only scored six goals in 28 appearances, although he’s played less than half the amount of minutes compared to his counterparts. The former Arsenal man is also significantly more mobile than Dzeko. There’s also a chance that Joaquin Correa could start alongside Lautaro, although this would be a riskier choice.
